Here’s a complete guide to help you explore the attractive view of the Northeast States on two wheels. 


1. Day 1-2: Guwahati, Assam | Starting Point: Guwahati 

Start your trip from Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India which is also known as the ‘City of Temples’. Spend your first day planning and plotting your route for further destinations and stops. Don’t forget to visit Kamakhya Temple, this temple is especially famous for its unique Tantric rituals and the annual Ambubachi Mela. Second is Umananda Island, located in the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Assam making it the smallest inhabited river island in the world. 


2. Day 3-4: Shillong, Meghalaya | Route: Guwahati to Shillong (100 km) 

After you are done with, Guwahati starts moving towards Shillong also known as the “Scotland of the East.” The ride takes you through the amazing hills and pine forests which are trees that grow needles instead of leaves and cone shaped structures instead of flowers. 


3. Day 5-6: Cherrapunji, Meghalaya | Route: Shillong to Cherrapunji (54 km) 

After having an amazing experience riding your bike through the hills of Shillong head towards Cherrapunji which is famous for being one of the wettest places on Earth. The route is filled with breathtaking views of lush green landscapes and waterfalls. 


4. Day 7-8: Dawki and Mawlynnong, Meghalaya | Route: Cherrapunji to Dawki (85 km) and Mawlynnong (30 km)

After riding from Cherrapunji, ride to Dawki, a small village of Meghalaya known for its famous Umngot River after that head towards Mawlynnong, a small village that is just 90 km away from Shillong. Further it was declared as the cleanest village in Asia by Discovery India. 


5. Day 9-10: Kaziranga National Park, Assam | Route: Mawlynnong to Kaziranga (338 km) approx. 

Take a deep breath and prepare yourself to ride back to Assam and go towards Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for the great Indian one horned rhinoceros. 


6. Day 11-12: Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh | Route: Kaziranga to Ziro (300 km) 

Get yourself prepared for a long ride to Ziro, a town in Arunachal Pradesh famous for rare orchids and other flowers and is also known for handicrafts for bamboo items like bamboo baskets. 


7. Day 13-14: Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh | Route: Ziro to Itanagar (104 km) 

Ride to Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh known for its breathtaking beauty, Buddhist culture and heritage. Explore its rich history and vibrant markets. 


8. Day 15-16: Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh | Route: Itanagar to Tawang (450 km) 

Live the adventurous yet beautiful journey to the land of misty landscape and magnificent monastery, Tawang. Known to cross one of the highest motorable passes in the world, Sela Pass. 


9. Day 17-18: Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh | Route: Tawang to Bomdila (180 km) 

While coming back, do visit Bomdila. The town offers wide views of the Himalayas in the east and is home to the beautiful Bomdila Monastery. 


10. Day 19-20: Tezpur, Assam | Route: Bomdila to Tezpur (160 km) 

Drive to Tezpur—a historic town in Assam. Known for its archaeological sites and the beauty of its landscapes, Tezpur is very good for relaxation before ending the trip.
